I thought that this grammar girl was very important simply because people don't believe grammar is essential. But grammar girl made some very good points on why grammar matters. She said that grammar matters when someone is trying to get a job as well as when someone is trying to gain respect.
Example #1
When a guy writes you a love letter and doesn't use correct grammar, it is a complete turn off, despite him taking the time to write it.
Example #2
It is also important when trying to make an argument with a teacher, because if you say something incorrectly the teacher will laugh and you will look like a fool.
In the episode that we have just heard it talks about how grammar is important and how it matters in life. The episode was giving examples like, what if you were looking for a job and you had to fill out the application and the manager looks at it and it has a lot of misspell grammar then there won't be a chance to get the job. Finding love is the same thing but then I just don't agree with not dating someone because of there grammar. I get that grammar matters in life and there is good examples but love is not an example of grammar.
Examples:
1. When you are emailing your teacher/professor for a grade or a question make sure you write correctly and not like if you are texting.
2. A speech needs to be written correctly with no grammar errors because then the person will not be able to speak in public.

Grammar Girl # 1 explains why grammar is vital. Grammar is important to us because it is the language that makes it possible for us to analyze the written language. Grammar gives names to the types of words or word groups that make up sentences in English. Learning about grammar shows us how different techniques can be interesting in appealing to the writers or readers.
Grammar is important to me because it gives me an understanding of the meaning of different words. Knowing about grammar helps me closely analyze into the text.
In the Grammar Girl Podacast why does grammar matter we listened to various examples on how important they were. To some people grammar is very important to others it could be the last things on their mind. When it comes to business and being in a professinal field grammar is very importnat but with friends and sometimes family grammar can be the last thing you can worry about.
Ex. Grammar is important when your dealing wit profesional background such as emailing a boss.
Ex. grammar is also importnmat when talking to someone u met= for the very first time and you are tring to impress them.
Paul Lopez
Grammar matters for several things in the daily life. One important reason grammar matters is for getting a job. You will least likely get hired for having grammar or spelling errors in your application rather than showing up late to the job interview. Grammar matters if you have a job also. You must make sure a contract is perfect or possibly lose your job.
Ex. Grammar is important to me if someone is trying to talk to me and what they're saying does not make sence.
Grammar is also important to me when I'm getting graded on a paper.
-- kRiisTiina lOvEs you.! --
I think that using grammar girl and knowing about it is very important. Hearing people's conversations around me doesn't bother me but I know its bad.
For example, the common mistake everyone makes....
"Would you like to go with me and Martha to the movies?" (wrong)
Instead of....
"Would you like to go with Martha and I to the movies?"(right)
Sometimes even though using bad grammar is bad, its also unattractive. Especially if your out going on a date.

The podcast was about when grammar is important. Grammar is important because it helps you to communicate with other people and It helps you to become successful in any career that you are trying to pursue.Grammar is important to me because I am trying to be a journalist and I need to write and speak corect english. Grammar will help for people to take me seriously in any career I want to pursue

In regards to what the podcast had explained to us, I have to say that Grammar really does matter. The examples made especially when someone applies for a job was well thought out. In my opinion, it's better to have used proper grammar rather than turn in an assignment late with grammatical errors.
As mentioned above, a few examples the author of the podcast gave was very much interesting and supported her argument quite well. Here's a few example of mine:
• Grammar matters whether you are texting on a phone or speaking to someone you ar famaliar with. Why you may ask?
It's really simple—As you continue to use such grammar towards your friends and people who you are famaliar with, you'll begin to succumb to that language. Eventually, you'll fall prey to speaking that particular way even if you never intended to.
• Another reason why grammar happens to be relatively significant is probably because when you're writing a College Essay, Job Application, and/or engaging in an intellectual conversation, you'll be the first to be eliminated out of the above! Think about the many College Advisors that read through essays as they come to a grammatical error, your paper will most likely be dumped in the trash. This also applies for a Job Application and if you were to be debating, most of the opposition will dismiss your statement(s).

Grammar girl was about how important it is to use grammar in our daily lives. Major corporations fire people just because they misplace a comma or forget a period on a letter. You should be aware on who your speaking to and correctly use appropriate grammar. That way you can avoid embarrassment or even the loss of your job. A girl might not find a guy attractive after he asks her " Girl what yo name is?". Grammar is the secret weapon that helps people deliver correct communication and in most cases attractiveness.
Response:
I think that Jackelyn's example of making an argument to a teacher, you don't want to look like a fool and not know how to speak. That example that she put was very understandable and it makes sense because you need to have good grammar in your thoughts to make an argument.

I think this grammar girl was very good for us all to understand because it discusses alot of issues we encounter on daily basis. She talked about how crucial it is to present yourself like you have knowledge with grammar. When you go on interviews or just by going out on regular errands it is important to have good grammar skills. She also took into consideration about how someone also will gain respect as well as recieiving it.
Example 1-
when a guy tries to "holler" at you, they use totally ugly language such as " aye baby what's good with you?" So unattractive and makes them seem like they have no inteligence. UGH!
Example 2- when you are talking to someone of importance and you try to use a big vocabulary. Keep it plain and simple and just use vocab your comfortable with
This podcast really shows and tells a lot about why grammar really matters. When it comes to getting a job you have to present yourself in your application or in a interview with understanding and correct usage of grammar.Another thing that makes grammar matter is that when you are in a college setting and your grammar isn't in hand then people may tend to look at you in a wrong way and tend to not understand you.Society moves on with grammar and just with good English and correct many people would be successful in life and in the ruff end of society. (Juhyun Kim)
This episode was about the importance of grammar. We tend to think that grammar is bothersome and annoying. However, through using correct grammar, you can get a job, keep a job, and get a respect from others.
1. If you are trying to persuade someone and send a letter with grammatical errors, he/she wouldn't take it seriously. But if you are grammatical and write formally, it can be more persuasive. I think being grammatical somewhat builds your credibility, or ethos.
2. When you apply for job, college, etc. with grammatical errors, you would less likely to get accepted.
Commenting on Paul's.....
I agree with Paul because its true especially with the teenagers. I'm a perfect example. My grammar is bad. The people I talk to their grammar is bad also. But we don't think about it. The reason why for that is because it's the way we grew up. Talking with bad grammar with friends and family.
But when going for a job interview, of course like me your going to want to change your speech in order for you to get your job.
Grammar girl number 1 was about the importance of grammar. The analogies she used were very humorous and incitful and it allowed me to understand how important it is to use correct grammar. Grammar girl explained how the incorrect use of grammar could cost you your job or even
a date!
Example 1
If I was on a date with a intelligent man and I said," You be making my head spin everytime I see you," I would get dumped that very second. If I said, "Everytime I see you my heart skips a beat," I would probably be looking forward to a second date.
Example 2
If I was on an job interview and I was cursing and using slang to answer questions, I wouldn't get hired. If I spoke like I had a mind I would get the job.
Ashika Ranasinghe!

Grammar Girl helps us understand that our grammar is important because it's a way of presenting our selves to others. If we don't use grammar correctly we can be expressing ideas that aren't even true.
For example, if you are writing to obtain a scholarship and you don't use grammar correctly then you are showing that you are not worthy of it. Another example is if you are trying to get in contact with your teacher through a letter and you want her to change your grade but your grammar only make you look like a fool.
Response 1
I thought that Juhyun Kim did an excellent job explained what grammar girl was talking about. I also think that her examples were great and interesting.
This Grammar Girl was about why grammar matters. The point was made that grammar and punctuation matters within a certain context. Within the professional microcosm, grammar should follow the rules Standard American English. Grammar not doing so can affect the credibility and ethos of the person who broke the rules of grammar. The whole purpose of Standard American English or any standard language is for the sake of understanding precisely what one is trying to say. Since there are several dialects of any language even within a single country, there has to be a way people can understand each other precisely within professional contexts.

Does grammar really matter? According to grammar girl, it has shown me that grammar really does matter. It matters to your job, understanding some one better, and even when being in a relationship. Grammar can lead you to many things and making it easier for you for life. People get to understand you better and shows how much knowledge you have.
Ex. For example, when writing an final essay you want to have the correct grammar in order for the teacher to understand what you essay is about and getting a good grade. Also, when speaking to someone, you want to use the correct grammar in order for hem to understand what you're talking about and to keep up a conversation.
Christina Ruiz Per.3
According to Grammar Girl podcast #152 grammar really does matter. Grammar Girl mentions in her podcast that having bad grammar in a job application is worse than a person cursing at a job interview or arriving late to the interview. She also states that a message sent without grammatical errors will be met with respect, just as it shows respect.
Example 1:
Having bad grammar is a major turnoff when finding love.
Example 2:
Having bad grammar in a job application is worse than a person cursing at a job interview.

This grammar girl is very important because because people don't think that grammar is essential. The grammar girl made some very important points on why grammar matters. Grammar girl said that grammar matters because when someone is trying to get a job as well is when someone is trying to gain respect for others.
example 1:
When you are trying to ask something from a teacher, you should have good grammar because it wont look good in front of her.
example 2:
When you are having an argument with someone or doing a debate you should have good grammar because you dont want to make fun of you in front of the audience.
This grammer girl spoke about a good reason. Alot of people text or type like the robber that they talked about. People type like that just to make it short like he wrote "muny" to make it short or somethimes people use "idk" to say "i dont know." I try not to do it alot so I won't get used to it or make a mistake like that when I am writing a important letter or an essay.
i believe that grammar does really matter and theres defenetly a place for abriviations and shortcuts. She uses the example of the spinach in the teeth and the speedo and shes right i would be like what is he thinking. Aswell as if i was reading many misspelled words and commas all over the place in a love letter, It will drive me nuts. Also it is smart to use correct grammar while trying to get a job because if you use incorrect ull give a bad first impression and ruin your changes.
responce:to Eva
I agree with eva when she talks about the love part and the dating beacuse it could be a turn off but if you like the person who cares about the spelling or grammer or if the could write at all...
Jose Valles
Grammar Girl matters because it gives an impression about a person. The use of bad grammar can make a person look dumb. Knowing where commas, apostrophes, colons, quotation marks, etc appropriately belongs shows a person intellect. Bad grammar can give bad impression, and express a different meaning from what you were actually trying to say.
Example
Grammer, is important because it shows your intellect.
*Grammar is important because it shows your intellect.
I think that kristina examples were very vague responses. She didnt fully give us any real example.
Jackie's comment was really good. It was really cute too, i liked how she used that example to relate how we think to the example
In this episode of Grammar Girl, Grammar Girl talks about why grammar matters and why it is important to apply it on daily basis.Especially in today's society with all the jobs and just any form of writing or literacy.
Example #1
A document of writing with misuse of grammar, can easily be misinterpret.
Example #2
Also when trying to sell a product or advertise you should be to have some level of knowledge in grammar.

This Grammar Girl podcast, "Does Grammar Really Matter?", is emphasizing the importance and necessity to use correct grammar and punctuation. The incorrect use of grammar and punctuation can affect a person's job acceptance, college acceptance, and possibly big time job deal/contract. It can also affect the way people view you. People may not realize it, but when it comes to relationships people judge a person by their first appearance and first appearances include the way they speak to you.
example 1:
Personally, if a boy came up to me and said, " Ay baybay what yo name is?" I wouldn't even take the time to even answer back.
example 2:
One day Kristina raised her hand in anatomy class and asked, "Do we be blah blah blah." I don't even remember the rest of her question because I focused so much on the misuse of be in her question.
This grammar girl was about the improper usage of modern grammar. I think this podcast really acknowleged how dumb people tend to sound. Eventhough we live in a society were using improper language is considered cool, it still doesn't mean we should just bypass everything we've learned since pre-school.
- Jade'Ashley c.
Example #1
People tend to neglect grammar while texting or emailing.
Example #2
People neglect grammar while using slang.
comment:
Jackelyn I loved your examples!I've experienced one of those letters. It was a total turn off.
response:
"When you apply for job, college, etc. with grammatical errors, you would less likely to get accepted". This is Juhyans example it is really true if you dont have good grammar it is less expected to be accepted, and if someone else is good they would accept someone else instead.
I agree with what Juyun said about when a letter sent without grammatical errors will be taken seriously and when sent with grammatical errors it will not be taken seriously. This applies to when you apply to colleges or for jobs.
In this blog grammar girl talks about the importance of using correct grammar. Grammar girl gives us many examples of the importance of grammar. It matters when you are applying for s job or writing an email to your boss.
Examples:
1. When you go apply for a job and you have misspelled or misplaced a comma, they may think that you are not capable of doing the job.
-Ana S.

In this week Grammar Girl, on Does Grammar Really Matter, the podcast informs us on the importance of grammar and how it is needed in our every day life. In my opinion grammar does matter it is important essential when you write. Grammar is needed in order to write an essay or in any other writing techniques. Without the importance of grammar writing would have no meaning.
Example 1: When applying for a job do not have grammar errors in your resmue it will jeopardize getting your job.
Example 2: Always include good grammar when writing an email, because you will impress your reader.
I thought that this grammar girl was very important because it helps people realize that grammar can affect their life. Grammar girl made sense, when saying that grammar can help you out in life or bring you down.
Example #1
When there's a really cute girl you want to talk to and you approach her but when you finally speak to her she has a lisp or shes ghetto that's a huge turn off.
Example #2
If your trying to get a job and you make mistakes in your application your most likely not getting the job.
I thought that the grammar girl was important because a lot of people think that grammar isn't important. It is important because your grammar reflects on yourself. If you don't know how to speak then it makes you look dumb. example-1 If you go into a job interview and say "hook me up wit da job though"you will not be hired.
Paul have you ever corrected a girl if she used a word and it did not make sence?
I agree with jacky about the wrong grammar in a love letter. It would be a turnoff for me too.
I really got message out of this podcast becasue it clearly explained to me why using correct grammer is so important. I liked how she related using bad grammer to having spinich in your teeth and explaining the seriousness of using the right grammer on paperwork. It made me think about how important this is for me and my acting career and it made me say to myself wow this would really help me in my cold readings and auditions. I know now that if I practice I will be able to speak with proper grammer and speak with confidence knowing that my words will be more powerful pronounced correctly and me having a full understanding of those words. It also talked about the importance of correct quotation placing and how placing it wrong could cause a mess.
Here are my two examples.
EX1.Hey me and Mike are going to the store.
Correction:Hey Mike and I are going to the store.
EX2.Hey did you throw the ball over their?
Correction:Hey did you throw the ball over there?
In this blog of grammar girl, she is speaking about the importance of grammar. Such as getting jobs, writing police reports, gaining people respect and etc. Also how you can find love using your grammar especially if it comes to a girl who loves grammar as much as she does.
Example #1
Its important to use grammar if you are writing an essay for Ms. Allen's class, as i have figured out in my previous essays is that she takes off a lot of points because of the way i missed used my grammar in m paragraphs.
Example #2
Another example is when you are trying to propose an arguement against someone who has great grammar, they can easily sike you out with their phenominal use of grammar.
I think Eva used great examples in her response. I liked the way her examples seem very life like and gave me a better understanding of why grammar is important.
i new that grammer was inportant but i didnt think that you could get fired from your job.Just for a error on ur work.and if you alk to someone and you say the wrong word you'll sound reald dumb.
example 1
if you send a e mail to your teacher and your work is miss spelled the teacxher will give you a pore grade.
example 2
If you give your teacher your test and theres alot of errors theyll probebly not even look at it.
If you talk to someone and you if dont now grammer you'll probebly going to sound dumb
Jose Franco
What I learned from this grammar girl was that when you put a comma in the wrong place it tells a lot about you. Also when you make grammatical erros on say a job application or when you try to wite a personal statement to a college. You always proof read it more than once and have other people proof read it so that you would have no grammatical errors. You would have a greater chance of getting into that college if you had no grammatical errors.
Example #1
When you write a personla statement to a college that you really want to go to. You might not get in if you have grammatical errors.
Example #2
If you turn in an essay to a teacher in the 12th grade, they are exspecting you to know how to proof read and that you turn in a paper that is flawless.
Response:
What types of names dos grammar give to words ar word groups of sentences in English?
Megan Dozier
Per.5
I thought this grammar was really funny ad true. I think there is place were you use correct grammar and a place where you don't.
Example
It's very pointless to write your English teacher an essay when you have misspelled words.
Example
When your texting it’s pointless to write a whole essay when you can abbreviate yours words to go faster.
I wonder how did JackelynG come up with her example
P.s Delilah
To be honest, I Make the same grammar mistake myself. I dont do it on purpose. But its just a happen.
EX: Like When A Coach tell you to do something, and he dont use the proper grammar
I agree with (mizzbrizzy) cause I also have bad grammar sometimes too.
Grammar girl 1 talked about the importance of grammar use in life, and our vocabulary, I thought this grammar girl was very imformative I really didnt realize how important grammar was in general, well I knew that using correct gammar was important when writting an essay or a letter to someone or a job interview, although I didnt know how much of an impact grammar had on a job application I always used to rush through them and didnt revice them at all now i know to take my time and revice them carefully.
Example#1
When writing an email to a teacher trying to persuade them to give you a better grade and if you have correct grammar the teacher might think you dont deserve a better grade if you dont know how use proper grammar.
Example #2
It ia also important to use correct grammer when you are trying to impress someone, it is a turn off to use wrong grammar in a date or asking someone outon a date.
I think JackelynG had similar ideas and responces to the grammar as I did, she used good exaples that were similar to the garmmar girl. And it is true some people dont think grammar is essential and i was one of them.
Grammar does matter because grammar is something we use everyday, and we use grammar to communicate with the people around us. Grammar is important because you can put up a good image in front of others, and you can even earn a big job or date opportunity by just using the correct grammar. Imaging you are on a date with someone, but you are using the wrong grammar all the, that will be a big turn-off. You also need to use correct grammar when you apply for a job. Your boss want to see whether you are suit for this job by your English. If you can even speak or write something you use everyday for your whole life, how are you able to handle something that you never experienced before.

Does Grammar Really Matter?
This podcast was about the important of using the correct grammar in the right times. Grammar Girl states using the correct grammar is like a lift-style. You wouldn't wear a speedo on the bus just like you wouldn't use text-slang on a job application.
Example
When felling out your college application or even a college placement letter using the correct grammar is very important.
Example
When your text-ing a juicy story to one of your friends. You have so much to say that the grammar isn't important because your pal know what you talking about
Grammar Girl #1 was about how important grammar really is because we don't take that serious. I think people that don't use good grammar are just dumb. It is one of the most important things in life, because you cannot be successful without it.
Example #1
When someone is trying to get a sponsorship and they send a letter in with mistakes, they would just throw it away.
Example #2
If you apply to a college and you have to write an essay, and you make a grammar mistake. I don't think you will get into that college.
Chris Gallardo
In todays Grammar Girl "Dose Gammmar Really?" was about why grammar is important. What refers to examples that relates to every day life, among the idea's that that wrong grammar can make you think twice about a person.
Example#1
People who text or send message online that spell "you" like "u".
Example#2
People who text once again shorting words just like numbers. For example using "2" rather than "two".
-Eva is right when it comes to her example. Pointing out how, students email and write to teachers. Turn into the habit of todays trin among the todays teenage.
-Dijon.P
i agree with Michelle when you write to a teacher or something you want to impress people.
Richard Chatman
The Grammar Girl was very informing. It tell you that if you send an email to someone that is important that you should use the correct grammar.I don't want a comma in the wrong place or the shortening of a word like for example using the number "2" in stead of "to". Teenager in today's society misspell in there text messages or use abbreviations. It is most critical use you write your resume' you have to be careful with your commas.
Richard Chatman
The grammar girl was about the importance of correct grammar usage in everyday life. There were a couple good examples that were pointed out. Like, you would talk or write slang if you were applying for a job. Also, not using correct grammar makes you look less educated then what you really might be.
Example #1
If you were typing a paper, you wouldn't use slang, or shorten words, because the teacher would lower your grade, and the computer will automatically spell check what you are typing.
Example #2
Grammar is also important because, you might get recognition for speaking correctly on a regular bases.
Response: Courtnei Johnson did a great job in explaining how grammar is important in everyday life, and she shows how it can relate to life for a teenager. I also think she didn't use correct grammar herself. She was to laid back.
-Ryan Harper
Grammer Girl#1 is about how important grammer is in many situation. GG#1 talks about how if grammer is not used correctly, it can effect you very deeply then you have never thought before. Grammer Girl mentioned how missed used grammer can be a turn off for a woman or a man when in a converstion or on a date. That really made me see the point of how grammer is important.
Ex#1: Grammer is important when giving a presentation to a class, bos or board meeting. I used to always hezitate when giving a presentation so I would always rehers my speech before I go on.
Ex#2: Grammer is very important when you meet someone new. That shows how you carry yourself and gives off a positive energy to the other person that this person is respectable.
Response: In the Grammer girl response of DAWN, I dont exactly understand what she means by "Grammer is important to us because it is the language that makes it possible for us to analyze the written language". Something is clicking in my head that is telling me what it means, but its not getting through to me.
Juan Cabral Per.5
why grammer girl really matter...
Reading grammer girl made me realize that it is important the way you present yourself and, the way you spell or abbreviate your vocabulary even though some people dont think soo. According to grammer girl it does matter it is un attractive.
example #1
When you are going for an interview and you bring in your resum'e there should be no mistakes because that would reflect on you.
Example#2
When a boy is trying to get your attention and he slips you a little note and, the grammer is just all mest up and, also sentences that dont make sence that would be very un attractive.
Response to JAckleynG
I think everything you said was good and true just because the fact that you said "grammar girl made some very good points on why grammar matters". I agree with you because is always good to get some new ideas and, also to learn new things from other people.

This grammar girl episode was about why grammar is important in our lives. Some believe that grammar is not so important but she makes a podcast pointing out that it does matter in the professional world. She also points out that using correct grammar earns you respect. It is important in order to get a decent job and keeping that job when using grammar with other employees and co-workers.
Examples:
1. If someone makes common grammar mistakes in a job interview, then the interviewer is likely going to mark that against the applicant.
2. Another time when grammar is important is when writing a final draft essay for an English class or applying to a university with grammatical errors in a college application.
Responses:
I thought that Juhyun Kim's response to this grammar girl was very helpful. I agreed with her first example and though that it is important because she mentioned that using correct grammar also builds your ethos.
I didn't think it would be such a big deal not having good grammar. Its a good thing I didn't learn it the hard way like some of the people grammar girl talked about. I really need to step up my game and increase my understanding on how and when to use correct grammer.
Many people were layed off because of the incorrect way the used grammar. Grammar girl explained how employers usually care more when they use correct grammar on their resume than when they swear or get to work late.
Another reason why correct grammar rocks is because chicks digg smart guys.
I agree with delilah on using correct grammar at the right time and using short cuts when you text your friends! I do that all the time.
Ashleigh,
i think that this was a good grammar girl because she made good point on why grammar does matter. If you didn't believe that grammar matters here somethings that might will.
example #1
when you are applying for a job
if you spell something incorrect than that will lower your chances of getting the job and you may really need the job and you cant because you made a small mistake.
example #2
when showing respect if you talk to a person with good grammar it shows that you was well raise im pretty sure that you wouldnt want people to think bad about your background i good backgrounds shows that you are a better person
We just read our first grammar girl.It was telling us about how grammer can really matter in life. I thouht it was actualy good becuse they gave good examples on how grammar can really affect you when you dont watch how or what you put your decimals, commas, or excamation point and even more.
Example 1: When someone writes a book and you read it,if the book iz missing all types of commas and exclamations and ect. it makes you want to stop reading it becaues it doesnt make since.
example 2: If you are writing a essay and you miss all of the spots where your grammar is suppose to be,the teacher wil think you rushed into it.
De'Sean Kimbrough
This grammer girl was basically about grammer and how important it is and how to use it. Grammer is a big part in life and how you use it well expand the way you speak.Like in a job or something important.
Example: Like if you were to write a letter to a teacher or an essay then the grammer would be good to use instead of txting or slang.
I think that the grammar girl today is very true because there are some people that talk to a teacher or principal like if they were talking to their friends.
Example #1
When you go to a job interview you are not going to talk to the person like if you were talking o your friends because he/she is going to think that you are not professional.
WESTSIDE!!!!!!!!!!!
I think that Grammar Girl really matters because it helps you a lot in how to get a really good job. Then it's important in how to keep a job in the way you will speak to other people. Another reason why grammar is really important is that getting and giving respect from other also getting from others.
Example #1:
When you are offer a really good job but you don't have a very good grammar the person that is hiring you would say this person doesn't have a good grammar so doesn't deserve this opportunity.
Example #2:
How you will give respect to other people how you use your grammar then how they'll give respect to you back in the way you talk to them.
Mayela G.
I learned that grammar is very important. Grammar can make you look smart or make you look foolish. It all depends on the context, meaning who you are talking to. If you are talking to a friend, you may use "slang" language. However, if you are talking to a teacher or someone older than you, you would use a different language and tone, called "formal." On a side note, you always write in third-person(he, she, they, etc.) when writing a formal essay. You may not get a girlfriend/boyfriend if ou can't spell or write correctly. You may not get a job if you have too many errors on a writing task. Basically, it is imperative to know how to use correct grammar.
Examples:
1. Suppose there is a job vacancy and two applicants fill out the form. You are one of them and there is another person. The following day, the owner calls both of you. The other person gets the job, but you don't. You ask the owner why you didn't get the job and the owner replies by saying, "because of your terrible grammatical errors." Owners want the people that can write correctly, not make simple errors.
2. If you are talking to someone, such as a teacher, you would use a formal tone. You wouldn't use "slang" language. If you do use "slang," it will just make you look foolish.
Response:
I think that Juhyun Kim gave a really good example that hopefully all of us will keep in mind. She wrote how having grammatical errors may decrease our chances of getting accepted in a university.

Despite of grammar girls "tacky" humor, i thought the podcast was every informative. I liked how she brought up real life situations and used them for examples. I guess grammar really "does matter". But seeing a guy in a speed o on the bus would be entertaining.
Ex 1: If you receive a letter from an unknown organization that you just won a million dollars, and it had multiple grammar errors. Would you believe it? I know i wouldn't.
Ex 2: It is also important to use the proper grammar when trying to prove a point in a mature way. If your arguing a point with slang and misusage of words. Would they take your point seriously. I don't think so.
I like JackelynG's example of using grammar in advertisement. Its true how advertisers have to use the proper grammar if they want their product to make money.

Response to Megg: My response to her would be that she didn't know what Grammar girl was explaining about.
The pod cast was about how grammer is used in the real life.It talks about how people use sometimes uses grammer in the wrong time.
Without grammer people wont be able to get good jobs.I think that grammer might be important some places.Maybe you will need grammer when you go to court or become a lawyer. by Brian Anguiano
in this grammar girl we see the important that is grammar to us.Learning about grammar shows us how different techniques can be interesting in appealing to the writers or readers.it is a big deal if you do not even know how spell words
example 1:when you write a book you have to spell correctly the words to the readers understand what you have wrote
example 2:when you speech the document that you read needs to spell correctly.
its important to know grammar because when yo go to write something on the board and if you make a mistake then the student might laugh about you.
ithink that this grammar girl episode made alot of sense. People should always use the correct grammar whennd you they are doing a test, talking to a principle or speaken in front of a crowd.
Example#1
You want to get accepted into college and you need to write a two page letter explaining who you are and what is your main goal if you was to attend the college.
Example#2
Also correct grammar need to be written if you are making a job resume.
I agree with Jackelyn correct grammar is very important if you want to show people you are not ignorant and stuff.
This pod cast was talking about why grammer really matters. Grammer really maters because you need it for everything, no matter what you do. Even if you write a letter to a girl you like, to a job, to the white house ect. From the smallest thing you are writing to the most important thing you are going to write in your life.
Example: The work that was done 2 ur the casa coast u $300.00 if you write it like that people you are charging wont take you serious and if you write it in good grammer you will be taken serious. The work that was done to your house coast you $300.00
example: I wub u with all my corazon would u like 2 go out with me. Wrong grammer remember turn off its better like this. I love you with all my heart would you like to go out with me.
responce to JackelynG: I really disagree with your second example because not all the teacher are mean and make you look like a fool some teachers try to but not all.

I thought this podcast made a very important point, because the majority of people don't think grammar is important. Grammar is very important in most situations, such as business letters, wedding invites, or even when your writing a novel. The main point of this podcast is to show the importance of grammar. Be sure not to underestimate the power of grammar. It can be our best friend or your worst enemy.
Example #1
When your writing your wedding invitations. You don't want to make a crucial grammar mistake on your own WEDDING INVITES! That would be so embarrassing. Well at least, I think it would.
Example #2
Could your imagine, the president mispronouncing something is his big speech in front of the entire United States because of someone's careless grammatical error?? Can u say CHAOS!

Grammar girl is a really good and important thing in our society. Having a good grammar makes you to be respect in a conversation with people .This things are really important because most of the time people get offended or sometimes they don't give respect to other because they thing that they don’t know how to talk or that they sound dumb.
Example # 1
When you try to write an essay for your English class and you don’t use correct grammar your teacher might not understand what are you talking about or what are u trying to say. Like if you wanted to say that you and your friend when some were and you write "I and my friend" your teacher would get confused.
Example # 2
Sometimes people may laugh people you don’t know how to use your grammar . "like if you say myfriend and mom is my friend nd my mom
I thougt that the grammer girl podcast was very reasonable. It talked about are the differnt situations where grammer is important. It also made a great piont of using grammer,of how the way you talk to somebody shows them respect as weel as your self.
Ex: I was gonna go to school.
I was going to go to school.
Wut chu doin?
What are you doing?
Response: i think that courtnei johnson responce is true because we do encounter gramer problems everyday

Grammar Girl says that its not good to talk incorrect. The reason why is because if one you are trying to get a job as a police officer or something else you can't because you can't speak or write correctly and you can make an error and that can cost your job(FIRE).
That is why Grammar Girl says that you always need to speak and write correctly and with respect.
I agree with her because it is true you always need to write and speak correctly no matter what even though if your with your friends and by doing that your given respect to the person.
I agree to what JackelynG said. The reason why is because it is true how about if one day you have an argument with the teacher like she said and then you say something incorrectly your going to look wrong and you don't want that.

- The contents in his comment was good. However, I thought it was somewhat funny becuase he was contradicting himself. I don't mean to offend him, though. He was talking about the significance of grammar, at the same time ignoring all the capitalization and spelling. Since you know why grammar matters, I think you should put it into practice.
A few thoughts..
I'm not trying to "shoot" on both users by the name of Jose but, I really think that you both were a prime example of this podcast.
Words such as "ur" and/or "u" should be used when you are speaking to a person of famaliarity. Even then, you'll become use to this type of language—Ultimately it will be a habit.
This Grammar Girl was interesting nonetheless but, you when you have about a million people posting under one blog, it tends to become confusing. I just want to address that it may be slightly better if there were different blogs for each period. It seems somewhat tiring to witness the same posts over and over!

Response to Pacho:
I agree with what Pacho says. I like how he showed that grammar is important whether it is used for a small thing or something with a greater importance. Also in response to his disagreement, I didn't say all teachers and I didn't say they were mean. But how would you feel if you were trying to prove a point and then you said something incorrectly? Most likely you would feel somewhat silly.

Response to JackelynG
Most people tend to not care on how some of the words are spelled in love letters they would tend to care on the emotion and feeling that is being represented but other do so it maters on the person when she said that I thought it was a bad example because when it comes to writing love many people have different ways of expressing it and grammar might be in it but sometimes its not a big factor.
The other example she said is true because in the collage life they will laugh at you and look at you as a fool because of your incorrect use of grammar to get a point across.
I found that this grammar girl was very true. I found this very true because, as she mentioned, nobody wants a guy that writes love notes with numorous amounts of mispellings, and grammatical errors or if they TaLwK LiK DiS .
Ex #1: if a doctor is writing a prescription and they write the number 2 instead of writing the word "to" he/she could make it seem as if they were writing double the dosage on a patients medication.
Ex #2: if you are invited to a office party of...a spouse, and you talk with really bad grammar you could embarass your husband or wife infront of there coworkers and de4pending on the boss you could get them fired.
i agree with... Enndy because if you turn in a college essay with way too many grammatical errors the college administrators most likely wont bother to look at your SAT/ACt scores.

I acknowledge that example and it has humor to it. Imagine those in the professional field actually using that type of grammar?
It would be a disaster not just because the patients would probably take more dosages (even worse if the doctor replaced "for" with "4"), but it is unacceptable.

This was the most unpersuasive defense of good grammar imaginable. If I see a guy wearing a Speedo on the beach, I hope he is thin and buff. Europeans tend to wear skimpy Speedos even if they are overweight. Grammar is a cultural treasure in my opinion. We are blessed to be Americans and have our language spoken by so many other people in the world. We at least owe it to ourselves to use our language properly. Of course good grammar is necessary to get and keep a job, but so is dressing and grooming appropriately, punctuality, and speaking articulately. All of these traits reflect self-respect and a desire to succeed. However, I hope our lives are not completely controlled by these types of utilitarian considerations.
I agree with Alyssa Pablo that grammar helps us understand the meaning of the text.

Grammar Girl #1, talks about how in peoples writing they don't believe grammar is essential. This episode made it really clear why grammar is important. It gave good examples that made it more interesting.
Ex. 1
When you are text messaging a girl or boy, it is very annoying when they leave letters out of words or mispell them.
Ex. 2
It is also very important, when making arguments in court or on a interview, if your in court it makes your agrgument that much stronger using correct vocabulary, in a interview using correct vocabulary makes you look more intelligent.

Response #1
Laundius had a good example, it is very important to use correct grammar when writing an essay for Ms. Allen. She takes off alot of points. That's why I use Spell Checker.

Yippee for Grammar Girl!
Grammar is essential in our daily life and many people don't believe grammar is important. But in grammar girl tells us that grammar matters when it comes to and interview, love or when you meet someone.Grammar girl also tells us that by having good grammar you can gain respect and present yourself with education.
Example #1
Having grammatical errors on a resume can keep you from getting a job.
Example #2
Receiving a letter from your sweetheart with grammatical errors can also be a turn off and show that hes not as smart as he looks.
Response:
In my opinion I think Eva's response and examples well very good. I agree with her first example because sometimes we tend to write like we do in texting or when were writing to our friends.
IN GRAMMAR GIRL PODCAST #152 SHE SAYS HOW GRAMMAR IS IMPORTANT IN LIFE.SHE GIVES AN EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANCE IN GRAMMAR LIKE WHEN YOUR APPPLYING FOR A JOB,FINDING LOVE,AND KEEPING A JOB.WHEN SHE TALKS ABOUT FINDING LOVE AND HAVING BAD GRAMMAR I DON'T THINK THAT THAT MIGHT ACTUALLY AFFECT DATING SOMEONE.THAT WOULD BE SOMETHING I WOULDN'T AGREE WITH.
EXAMPLES
1)WHEN YOU WANT TO GET A JOB THAT REQUIRES YOU TO BE WRITING YOU NEED TO HAVE GOOD GRAMMAR OR ELSE YOU MAY NOT GET THE JOB.
2)IF YOU ARE ARGUING WITH A PROFFESOR AND YOU DON'T KNOW GOOD GRAMMAR THEY MAY THINK WHY ARE YOU EVEN IN HERE?
RESPONSE
I THINK THAT EVITA KNOWS WHAT GRAMMAR GIRL WAS ACTUALLY TALKING ABOUT AND HER EXAMPLES SHOW THAT SHE DOES.
Grammar Girl is important because it helps us correct little mistakes that we might have been making for a long time and didn't even know it. It is a good way for us to find the truth about certain grammar things and then further prove that we know it by posting what we learned. If you were confused after the podcast you can read a fellow classmates response to help you understand.
Example #1
When you emailing a teacher now I know how to use proper grammar as opposed to me texting one of my friends.
Example #2
Using proper grammar is also important when trying to make a first impression.
Response:
I like Eva's response. It was funny when she talked about a love letter and how she would be turned off if the didn't use correct grammar.
This grammar girl made good points on why grammar is important. A lot of younger people don't use grammar correctly. She said it's important to use proper grammar when you want a job and when you want to be taken seriously.
Examples:
1. If you go in for a a job interview with poor grammar, the manager will take you as a joke
2. When you're having a conversation with an adult you don't want to use that slang with them. They probably won't get what you're saying.
3. A girl with poor grammar is a total turn off!
