Cultures and Traditions of My Country
My name is Jose Roberto Lucha Ramirez. I am from El Salvador. I came here when I had 16 years old now I’m 17. I like to play soccer, go out with friends, and sometimes I like to stay in home. Also I like to study English and came to school.
A tradition that makes me feel happy is San Miguel Carnaval we celebrated in November. A culture that we have in my country is Holy week. In my country for Holy week we eat Tamales and are part of a tradition. Also, we celebrate the day of the dead. Here I eat Pupusas when I want, but in El Salvador we eat them just on the weekend. Also when a child is born we go to visit and take them a gift and cook a special soup for the mom.
I think that living in two cultures is not difficult. Is not difficult because in this country there are a lot people that are from of my country and we celebrate the same traditions. But sometimes I feel bad when I remember things of my country. One thing that I miss is go with my friends to the pool and go play soccer. When I came here I was confuse for the language. That was one thing that I didn’t understand, but now I can understand and I feel better.

A Short Part of My Life
I was born in Santa Ana, El Salvador. Now I live in Los Angeles, California, so I have the Salvadorian culture. Now I’m getting the American culture. I like to go dancing in the weekend with my friends, and also I like to go to the movies.
In my country we have the tradition where we eat tamales every Saturday. They are so delicious and I like that because sometimes the family is together and we can eat, laugh, talk and have a special Saturday. We have many traditions like when we sign the national anthem we have to put the right hand over our heart. When a baby is coming we have the traditions to do a baby shower.
The Salvadorian culture for me is the best because is my culture and I’m adapt to this culture. The American culture is so weird for me because I don’t know their culture and the holydays at they have, like thanksgiving. When I come here I didn’t know what that is.
Sometimes I feel sad because I miss my traditions and my country. When I come here it was so difficult to me because I didn’t know the language but slowly I’m getting use the language and also to the life here. It’s hard but I have to that.

My self and experience
I am Israel; I’m from Oaxaca, Mexico. I like to spend time to think about my future. My favorite food is chilaquiles. I like them because when I was in México, my mom made that for me.
In my culture, we have costumes that make my culture special. We have three big celebrations during the year. The best one is the 5th Friday in this partly we celebrate the Boss of the village. The second celebration is celebrate on February 12th in this celebration we celebrate la virgin de Guadalupe. The third one we celebrate December 12 the same as the second one.
I like because in does celebrations all the communities by my village came to celebrate with us.
Now I live in two difference culture my first culture is from México, but now is American culture, is hard to adjust in two difference cultures because, I was born in México, but when I was 14 year old I move to U.S.A, because you see difference customs and different people. And you can’t see your own traditions. That’s why is hard to me adjust in this country.

How to Live in Two Cultures

I live in Los Angeles, CA. My parents are from Oaxaca, Mexico. I live in two cultures, the American culture and the Oaxacan culture. I like to play basketball with my friends. We go to play in the park after school, and also I like to go dancing.
In Oaxaca, Mexico we have different traditions. In my town, we have a special tradition. On August 24th we celebrate the town party. The party starts the 24th and finishes the 28th. Everybody goes to the church on the 24th of August in the morning. After that, we go to see a bull rider. After that, we go dancing in the night. Also everybody cooks different foods. My parents and I celebrate with the family all day on the 24th. On the last day everybody goes to church and eats special food.
Now I live in Los Angeles and it is hard for me because my parents are not here. Also, it is hard because I miss them. It is hard too because I want to talk with them and go out with my sister and my parents. Another reason it is hard for me is because I need to pay rent every month, so I work and go to school. Also, it is hard because I work in the night. I feel bad because here I need to learn English and also I need to work to buy food for myself. I feel bad because when I was in Oaxaca, Mexico I spoke Zapoteco and Spanish and now in Los Angeles, C.A. I need to speak only English.

Adapt to two different….

I was born in Los Angeles, California. My parents are from Zacualpan Estado de Mexico and I was raised for 9 years in that town. Now I’m in Los Angeles California. I’m between two different cultures, the Mexican culture and American culture. I like to learn new things that can help me in my life. I also liked be with my friends when I was in Mexico.
I had many traditions from my Mexican culture. One is December 8, this day in my town people would celebrate “Santa Concepsion”, and she is the boss of the town. That day people would go to the mass and when its finish every person does different customs like for example in a family they make some special food. My grandmother also makes some food like pozole, taquitos, and sometimes a food that my grandmother called torreja. I like every much that day because I got outside we my friends to have fun in the fair.
Been in two different cultures it can be sometimes difficult because, like when I’m in home my family speak Spanish, so I need to know how to communicate with them, but when I’m in school I need to talk in English and sometimes a don’t want to speak English. I like more better Spanish because a had been in Mexico 9 years, and for my fault I didn’t communicate with my brother in English because the people in Mexico they Looked to us like we didn’t belong where, but the future was passing in I started learning Spanish. But I return to U.S.A., because I’m finding more opportunity in my life to learn English again.

My Cultures

I am Byron Hernandez. I am from the Capital of Guatemala. I am 16 years old. I like sports .My favorite sport is soccer .My Brothers and I always go to the park to play soccer. Sometimes I go to the park alone to see if my friends are there
In Guatemala there is a tradition that is really weird. The people make devils, and then they burn them to celebrate the holiday. I don’t know why they do that. I think is really weir don’t you think the same?
I think that living in two cultures is good. There are people that think that adapting two cultures is U.S.A we speak a different language. We eat new food. There are people who don’t want to talk with us just because we are Latinos.
