It's no surprise to see songs/poems written with incorrect grammar. Songs/poems have that freedom to ignore grammar rules in order to create a rhyme or something that flows.
Pronouns are something that replace a noun in a sentence. We use pronouns when we don't want to use overuse a noun.
There is a difference between a subject pronoun and an object pronoun. Subjects are the ones that are taking the action. Objects are the ones that are receiving the action. For example, "I" is a subject pronoun and "me" is an object pronoun.
There are two parts to a sentence: a subject and a predicate. You are going to use subject pronouns in the subject of a sentence and object pronouns in the predicate of a sentence.

Here is an example from a song that I wrote:
"I have this image in my mind of you and me..."
I have used both pronouns, "I" and "me", correctly in this sentence. "I" is placed in the subject of the sentence and "me" is placed in the predicate of the sentence. Unlike the song discussed in the grammar girl lesson, instead of using "you and I" and the end of the sentence, I have used the phrase, "you and me".

Summary
In our society today, there are a handful of things that can lead one to make gramatical mistakes. We can possibly find these errors in songs, movies, and what ever we can hear or see. In one of the lines in the Olympic theme song, it says, "I believe in the power of you and I." This pharse in gramatically incorrect, due to the fact that she says "you and I." "I" is a subject pronoun, and she used it after a prepositional phrase. After a prepositional phrase, an object pronoun is required.

An object pronoun is the target of the action. A subject pronoun is the one doing something.

Example
From my AP Literature Notes:
"She is in love with the communities view of him."

I believe I wrote the sentence correctly. "She" is the subject pronoun, she is doing something. Continuing, "him" is the object pronoun, the one who is the target of the action.

On this episode of Grammar Girl, the topic of lesson was on pronouns and antecedents. They use the Olympic song, 'i believe',as an example where the use of the pronoun 'I' is incorrect. In the 'I versus Me' section, i learned that 'I' is used if you will use an action word after it. And use 'me' when referring to who the action is being directed.

@Mike: Your right, songs/poems do commonly make grammar mistakes. And often we ignore them because it perhaps doesn't matter, or we just don't know any better. But in the end the flow does matter.

Response
The way Mike used his lyrics as an example was correct. He used "I" as the subject, the one doing something, and "me" is the object pronoun, the one who is the target of the action.

Grammer Girl today was talking about the song "i believe" and if it had a gramatical error. She was talking about pronouns and how "I" should be changed to "me". There were many comments on people agreeing and disagreeing with the importance of the grammer.

Ex: Claire was walking down the street. Then claire went into the store.

To change the sentence by adding a pronoun you can change claire to she in the second sentence because we already know who we are talking about.

In this Grammar Girl, she is explaining how to use pronouns, stating the difference between subject and object, and also how to use "I and Me" in the right frame. She explains how to misuse pronouns and how to substitute them. She also explains how pronouns follow prepositions in a sentence.

Ex. 1: I paid for my moms dinner.
My mom paid for me.

Ex. 2: Anissa threw Anissa's bag.
Anissa threw her bag.

Ex. 3: The sheet was under me.

Grammwer girl today was talking about the olympics theme song and how it had a grammer error. She was talking about someone that had a complaint about a line where it said "you and I" the original was "you and me". So she explains how pronouns can change the way of a sentence like

ex:carlos was fixing my car. Carlos told me it was really messed up.

now making it better it has to change into

ex:carlos was fixing my car. He told me it was messed up

the second carlos can be taken out to make it sound better and it make it have a good grammer

In this weeks Grammar Girl, she explains the fallacy in the Olympic theme song "I Believe". She shows how Pronouns are misused and tells you the difference between a subject and object pronouns. Subjects are the ones taking action in a sentence, and objects are the ones receiving the action. When subject pronouns are used in a sentence you generally use "I".

For Example,
I shot the dog.
The subject is I, the object is the dog.

When using an object pronoun you generally use "me".

For Example,
The dog shot me.
The dog is now the subject and "me" is the object.

When pronouns are apart of a prepositional phrase, you always use it in the object form.

Summary:
The main idea of this article is that people often mistake subject pronouns and object pronouns in a sentence, making the sentence grammatically incorrect. Subject pronouns are supposed to take action, while the object pronouns receive the action. People seem to always misuse "I" as the object pronoun, when it's supposed to be "me" receiving that action.

Example:
In my Think Win-Win warm-up, I had a sentence saying "...she needs me..." I used the subject pronoun and object pronoun correctly.

Response:
In Matt's example he wrote "I shot the dog." It's correct because he is the object doing the shooting, and the dog is the object getting shot.

Summary:
The main idea of the so called "Grammar Girl" article is of how people often mistake subject pronouns and object pronouns. The subject pronouns should take the action and the object pronouns recieve the action.People just most of the time miss use their object pronouns.

Example: The way that i feel about shakespeare is that all of the work and writing has like some type of poetry.

Response: In Carolina's example she wrote "she needs me" as her example. She used her object pronouns and subject pronouns correctly.

Grammar Girl clearly states that the pronoun phrase, "you and me", while correct, does not fit with the prepositional phrases in the entire song performed at the Olympics. Since "me" is the correct object pronoun it should be used as such. It is simply a lesson on the subject pronoun "I" and object pronoun "me".

Example:
From the I Watched packet in regards to not slacking off and doing work on time, the phrase, "That's how I want to be," is correct.

One wouldn't say,"That's how me want to be."

Well basically Grammar Girl was explaining how a song writer wrote incorrect grammar. She was saying how she had a problem with the line “I believe in the power of you and I” because its incorrect grammar. But thats the freedom in writing songs or poems you have to think of ideas that can make your poems or songs rhymes regardless if there correct or incorrect. If they were to correct all songs and poems, 99.9 percent of them would be used with incorrect grammar.

Object pronouns receives the actions an subject pronouns does the action.

There have been many times when I've made the mistake of using two subject or object pronouns in one sentence. I used it when I was completing an assignment in my economy class. I said, "Me and you shall have surplus with neutral prices on our items." This is a problem because I used the wrong pronoun I should have used "You an I" instead of "Me and You".

SUMMARY
In this Grammar Girl Assingment she explains to us the correct way to use pronouns. She then went on to tell us about object pronouns and subject pronouns. For this lesson Grammar Girl used the Olympic Theme song "I Blelieve" as an example to show us the pronoun mistake in the song.

EXAMPLE

English Per. 2

"I think that Hamlet is going to kill everyone with poison."

I believe I used the pronouns correctly. "I" is my subject pronoun, and "everyone" is my
object pronoun

The grammar girl podcast explained the common misuse of "I" and "me." Other than the fact that the "I" made a rhyme in the song, I can understand why someone could easily make the mistake of sayin "I" rather than "me" because we are always told to say you and I not you and me, but that rule only applies when "I" is the pronoun. When pronouns are put at the end of the sentence they become objects and you must "me." The writer might not have made this mistake if it were no "you" there, he would not have said "I believe in the power of I."

Summary:
In this article, it basically talks about the fact that people often mistakingly use the wrong type of pronouns. Such as object pronouns and subject pronouns. Subject pronouns are the ones that take action. Object pronouns are the ones that receive the action. Instead of writing "me", people tend to use "I", but when in the wrong format and unconsciously. If only they knew..

Example:
in this week's vocabulary test. i noticed a asentence that said , "...i feel amorous towards her..." This sentence is used correctly in the way that i am the one giving the love and she's the one receiving it.

Response:
in carolina's example, she wrote "she needs me" , amd she used her pronouns correctly

Response

In Alberto's example he used the pronoun "I" correctly. If he had used "Me" instead of "I", then it would be wrong.
